January 30, 1940 Tuesday

                                                                                       Tuesday--after work

Hello, Bill, dear,

Just a note to welcome you back to our fair city.
I thought that it would be nice to write something to you, then
you would have a letter awaiting you when you got back.  If this
is rather incoherent, don't mind it, cause I am trying to do this
in a big hurry.

I do hope that you had fun in Corvallis, but of course
I will find that out tonight if and when you call.

My cousin breezd down from Portland today, only they
are going out to my aunt's for dinner, and I am going to be home
all alone for dinner.  Woe is I.  Maybe that means though that I
won't eat too much, and I will be more able to win that ORCHID
which I might get Friday night.  I will have to get out my dress
tonight and put it on to see what it still looks like--if I can
still wear it, etc.

Well, dear, see you soon, and looking forward to hearing
from you tonight.

                                                               Love,
                                                                  Dotty
