(ed. note: I think I got a letter or two out of order, due to the return postage mixup. Anyway, I think I'm back on track...)
Tuesday
Hello again, dear -
This will no doubt surprise you - getting two letters from me in rapid succession, but I am in the mood to write and besides haven't a great deal else to do except listen to the radio which I am doing also -
In the first place, I am pouting, on account of I dashed down here this noon just to get your letter and I was very unhappy not to find one - and after you said you would write Monday night too --
Oh well maybe you are saving up all the sweet things to say until tonite or something if that makes sense to you - I seem to be having a lot of trouble with my grammar and sentence structure but I hope you don't mind - Anyway, the general impression I want to get across is that I look forward to your letters an awful lot and you can't write too often for me ---
Radio is now playing "Where Was I" -- remember?
Accomplished quite a bit at the office today and am beginning to feel that I am getting caught up - but can't tell what tomorrow will bring -
Mrs. Wetterborg called me up today about the room and at 5 o'clock I went up to see the lady, Miss Williams by name - The rooms are very nice and I practically told her I would take one, although if I do I won't move in for a couple of weeks or thereabouts. I also found out that I could keep my car at the Marquam Manor garage for $3 a month - so that would take care of that -
By the way, how are you getting along with your work - are you completely satisfied with your job and status at the Monroe Lumber Company, or do you desire a change? Don't mind me, except that I have a feeling that for the next few months I may be trying to talk you into getting a job in Portland or something - this really isn't such a bad town and I am beginning to like it more and more, but if you were up here it would be perfect - so why don't you just put that idea into the back of your mind to think about in your spare moments - A young lady of your charm and ability shouldn't have a great deal of trouble securing a worth-while position up here or what do you think - Von was telling me last night about a pretty good job that will soon be open - private secretary to Joe Fisher, a big automobile dealer - and there are undoubtedly others like that - maybe -
Decided that I needed some exercise today and went out and played some golf at 5:30 at Lloyds - Von was going to play with me but at the last minute found he couldn't break a dinner engagement with Jane so I played alone and it was lots of fun except that I lost my last 75¢ ball - guess I'll have to stock up if I want to keep playing this game -
How are your doing being all alone in your big apartment - or do you mind - anyway don't get scared -
maybe I will call you up real late some night and give you a thrill, I hope.
After I write this letter and get it mailed I am going out and do some visiting - saw a couple of fellows today I haven't seen for years and I am going out to see them and maybe line up some future golf games - one of the fellows is now a policeman and drives a prowl car and stuff - we used to play tennis and chess together also -
Let me know what progress you are making in getting a ride to Portland - also - and I really shouldn't mention this, but if you find yourself broke or something, I would gladly advance or lend you some money first to make sure you do come up this weekend - anyway let me know -
Love,
Bill
