My Dear Mr. Zimmerman,
As per your request of last night I am writing you this little note to tell you of my whereabouts sometime during this day, Sunday, August 13, the year of our Lord 1939.
So far we have not been able to find a car or a chauffeur, but still haven't given up hope. If you get this note at 12:30 I am probably sound asleep in the house, or I am across the way at Ruth May's telephoning or I am down at Beverly's trying to get her to get a car so we can go wagon hunting, or no telling where I am, or what I am doing. However, I believe that I will be home sometime this evening, for sure, and we can go see a cinema around 7:30 or 8:00.
Very truly yours,
Dotty

P.S. Please take a gander at the beautiful washing on the line.
