January 30, 1941 Thursday "I'll be waiting for you at the station.. "

                                                                        Thursday

Hello, dear -
Hope you get this before you take the 4 o'clock train to Portland, but I suppose you come home for lunch don't you - anyway, am expecting a letter tomorrow telling me for sure you'll be up Friday - so please don't disappoint me -  I would be very unhappy if you couldn't come till Saturday -
Think I will sleep hard and long tonight, if I can, on account of I should get caught up for this weekend, and then on Monday I'll be working till midnite - we are going to examine about 300 then and that's a lot - had to stay till 11 and after - before when we only examined 200 - Oh, well -  I quit about 3:30 today and went down and bought a milk shake and a hair cut - and my hair is really short now -
Went out and drank a couple of bears last nite with Von and Dotty Lou - she is going to Lakeview tomorrow so I guess the four of us don't get together this weekend, but it doesn't matter much - just so you are here -
Well, dear, I'll be waiting for you at the station - and prepare to have fun -
                                                                                Love and kisses,
                                                                                          Bill

Hello, Sweet--

I don't have to work Saturday and I can leave Friday whenever I want to.  Isn't that perfect?  I may drive up with Marilyn and her mother, leaving here at 2:00, so I'll be in Portland a lot sooner.  But if I don't call you before 8:00-- meet me at that time at the train depot.  I won't know for sure if I go with Marilyn till Friday noon--you see we haven't a way to get bak here except on the train.
                                                                                       Dotty
Will you tell Aunt V. I'm coming - Haven't had a chance to write her -
