September 5, 1940 Thursday

                                                         Thursday evening at Seymour's -

Tonight is certainly a wild night in town what with the circus, opening of Burch's, and what not -  Helen & I are down looking the situation over - I finished another lesson tonight so feel like celebrating - and my car stopped all of a sudden - one second it worked and the next it didn't - now I have to go to the garage & see about it -
Damit - and here it was working so good - oh well -  This is probably going to be short and sweet - Had fun playing bridge last night - and won again -
Helengray is making the cutest (some more) dishtowels - I'm certainly anxious to get started on my stuff -  And I really only have 36 hours left to take to graduate - That won't be so bad -
Goodbye now dear and lots of love -

                                                                               Thursday

Hello Dotty Dear -
Your letter today was kinda short but it probably won't be any shorter than this one, on account of I just don't have a single thing to say - tah - tah -, isn't it awful - nothing exciting has happened since and I haven't even been working hard - but I have been doing a lot of thinking of you as usual - which ain't news to you I guess -
Von is coming over tonite and I believe we shall travel down to the local movie and see what the situation is - Will probably see Errol Flynn in the "Sea Hawk" - should be nice and bloody and gruesome - wish you were here so I could hold your hand.
Have decided to spend most of the coming weekend washing my car and then waxing it - which is a good day's work - Might manage to squeeze in some golf Sunday morning if Anet wants to play.
Am going to take my suit down tomorrow and get it altered - funny, but I haven't gained any weight either - do you suppose it could have shifted or something -
Doesn't seem possible this is Thursday already - Haven't quite caught up on my sleep from last weekend -
But will undoubtedly get enough this one, darn it -
Will tell you more tomorrow, I hope -
                                                            Lots of love,
                                                                            Bill
