Septermber 3, 1940 Tuesday

                                                                Tuesday -

Bill, Dear
I miss you muchly already - And today was very uneventful -  I certainly didn't want to get up this morning  - Guess fall is really here cause that is the way I feel then -
Got my lessons today for my algebra couse and it looks kind of interesting - just some more work to do - I hope these next two weeks don't go as slow as the last one did.
Did you have a nice ride up to Portland - and did you get up in time, etc.? -

I have almost finished reading Wintersmoon and then I can write up the report for it -
My little car certainly works wonderful now with all its tires in their correct place.  Mom noticed the golf club in the hall - and she even thinks it would be a good idea for me to take it up - guess I best do it --

Think I will get some material tomorrow to start my embroidery on -  You know the cactus -  Hope I can find the right material and in the right colors -  Guess I will have to break down and charge it, but it will only be a few cents -

Did you work hard today? -  Hope not too hard - we didn't work very hard -

I did most of it yesterday I guess -   well - not quite -

And now, dear, I am going out into the cold, cold, air to mail this - course it'll do me good to get out a little -  I am going to put a stamp on, too, and check up on the address -

Lots & lots & lots of love

                           Dotty

                                                                     Tuesday

Hello dear,

I notice from the above that it is Tuesday already - I find that hard to believe on account of I feel like I usually do on Mondays - mournful Mondays -
Had a hard time getting up this morning - very unusual - but we finally pulled out of Eugene about 5:10 and hit Milwaukie about 7:25 which was fast enough as I was kinda sleepy -  Beverly's Brother John didn't so much as offer to help pay for the gas either, which made me a little irked on account of I did get up 1/2 hour early because of him - but don't tell Beverly about it -
I wish Labor days or even holidays came more often as they is very good fun - as you probably know I really had just too wonderful (no fooling) a time over the weekend and I am still doing considerable thinking concerning the winter as compared with the summer or do you know what I mean - isn't it fun!!!
Had a great time making my pay check disappear today - it was a cinch - darn it - oh yes, the man told me I needed a new battery on account of one of the cells was shot - so I told him to slap it in - it's always something -
After I mail this letter I am going to bed - it will be somewhere in the vicinity of 9 bells by that time -
Have a wonderful picture for my office - it is a photograph of the Medical School which shows the setting sun shining on the buildings, and the moon overhead all at the same time - bought it for 40¢ from one of the secretaries - Will show you the works when - and if - you come to Portland in two weeks -
Hope you put a stamp on the letter you wrote tonite, I hope -
                                                                Love,  Bill
