Monday
Hi, light of my life ----
Just finished reading your beautiful little letter a couple of times and I guess you agree with me that it isn't much fun sitting around of a weekend and thinking of your loved one and still being 120 miles apart - Anyway the next two weekends we'l make up for it -
Would like to come down Friday nite but the passengers all agreed on Saturday noon, so guess it will be then - we should be there by 3:00 PM, I hope -
It really got cold last nite - and drove to work this morning in a heavy fog, but it was clear as a bell at the top of Marquam Hill, and the view was the most gorgeous I have seen yet - I went up to the top of the Medical Science Bldg and surveyed the surrounding scenery - Could see all the mountains such as St Helens, Rainier, etc - and Mt. Hood really big - and all covered with snow - skiing is good now, according to the papers, what with about 20 or 24 inches so far -- of snow -
Just noticed in your letter that you were knitting some mittens - you shouldn't have told me, on account of I am now going to respectfully request you to knit me a pair, providing you have the yarn and the time - my hands got awful cold this morning driving to work - it would be very sweet of you to take care of this matter and I will only be too happy to give you my measurements this weekend -
Am going down to the "Y" tonight and see if I am good enough to play on their basketball team - Wish I were in better condition -
That idea of yours about coming up here some Friday nite when you don't work Saturday sounds plenty OK to me - wait till I look at my calendar - how about Nov. 30 - then we can wander around Portland Sat. afternoon and see what the stores are selling that we might want to buy - ought to be good fun -
Today went by fast - much faster than most Mondays - now if the rest of the week could go the same, I would be happy -
Guess what - bought a month's supply of stamps today - guess I write as many letters as you and I just counted up to find that you wrote me 17 letters in October - by next May I'll have to get a trunk to keep your letters in, cause I'm certainly not going to throw them away -
Love and kisses,
Bill
Monday
Hi, sweet, sweeter, & sweetest -
I really can hardly wait till this weekend - And I'm just sittin around till then - your new suit sounds very lovely and I'm sure you look very lovely - No matter what you say - Will I see it this weekend? - My drate big hansome man - But I mean it - And I love you -
Are you voting tomorrow - Finally and at last the political speeches will be over - wonder who will win? - Guess the word'll go on just the same -
Zim why am I so lazy - just sit around and don't do a thing - I've said this before - but I wish I'd snap out of it - maybe I could if I just set out to do it - I need you here for encouragement.
Evidentally the dance Sat. is long dresses, etc - Just think you'll be an alum and I'm practically one and considered as one in the house -
Did you have to make your little speech at the banquet - sounds like it was fun -
Wish this GAC dance was over with I have no idea in the world on how to decorate - They want a ship and I don't know what a ship looks like - Joy oh Gladness -
Almost finished a mitten but I'm running out of yarn - If I sent you the wrapper - do you think you could get another ball for me? - I know it's a lot to ask - but maybe you could get someone to get it for you? - Or you could say your mother wanted it, or something - anyhoo let me know & I'll send it -
Oregon sure went to town against Montana - I'm not even looking at what I'm writing so hope you can read it - (More political speeches)
Hurry up here Sat - but be careful - & remember I love you -
