January 17, 1941 Friday "have my name in print again - thrill! thrill!"

                                                                               Friday

Hi, sweet -
So you and the Monroe Lbr. Co have at last decided to get along without each other - I am kinda interested to get your next letter to see if anything definite has come of it - but from what you told me about your work, I think it is a good idea for you to quit, on account of it's not much fun working if you don't enjoy it, or something -  It would be swell if you could work for Mrs. Collins for a couple of months, and this should be a busy season for them -  Anyway, sweet, you know anything you do is OK with me -
This week has really gone fast - hope the next two are the same way - it seems so long until January 31 but I suppose there's nothing to do but wait, darn it - and every day passed is just one closer to Jan 31 - and April 13 - which helps -
It has been raining up here for days and days and I am commencing to wonder whether it will ever stop - and I wanted to play some golf tomorrow too - maybe I will anyway -
Stayed out at Mr. Couch's until after 11 o'clock last night, and we got quite a bit of work done, besides having a good talk - And he told me that my work to date was swell, which made me feel the same way - So I guess if I keep it up there's no reason why I shouldn't be there permanently - so don't have a thing to worry about now - except how am I going to stand waiting until April 13 -
Oh, yes, dear - have my name in print again - thrill! thrill!  anyway there was quite a story in "Northwest Medicine" about our physical exams for the selective service and I drew a little mention as Mr. Couch's assistant.
                                                                           All my love,
                                                                                 Bill
