Who was Helengray?

Ed. note:  Some of us have been wondering who Helengray was, as we don't recall Dotty ever talking about her when we were growing up.

In the box of keepsakes that was in the trunk with the letters, I found this news clipping:



And in a search of the Eugene Register Guard archives, this article.

So she was Helengray Boykin, raised in Eugene, in the same sorority as Dotty, and she married Lloyd Cummings.  The announcement was made over this weekend and we can assume that Dotty and Bill were at whatever gathering was held for the occasion.

Info from WW II draft records. This may be why they married so quickly; he had enlisted in October, probably had finished basic training, and was off to fight the war.

Very interesting. I wonder why they didn't stay close? Maybe mom & dad visited with them when we went to Eugene and we just didn't know because we stayed home with Aunt Hetty?
