August 2, 1940 from Bill

                                                                        Friday
Dear Dotty,
Excuse the stationery and stuff -  Bob Anet and I are eating dinner now and it is about 8:30 - We have been playing golf since 5 and I haven't been home since noon-
Thanks for the map and letter - I can't help but find the place now -
By the way, what I want to tell you in this letter is that I probably won't get down till around three o'clock on account of I am bringing a passenger - a paying one - she is a sweet young thing named Dorothy who works up at the Journal and she wo can't get off till 1 o'clock -  Bob Anet told her this noon that I was going down and she called me up and asked could she go too -  so what could I do - maybe she'll change her mind by tomorrow -
Bob has a bad cold and is in bad shape -  he let me win 35¢ from him in golf, which pays for my dinner -
Well, sweet, take it easy -  and I will see you about 3, I hope -
                                                  Love and kisses,
                                                      Bill

P.S -  Bob says to send his love too.
